‘CDGK to set up 40 schools for the poor’

KARACHI: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal on Friday announced the establishment of a role model public school by the City District Government Karachi (CDGK). Kamal said that around 40 similar public model schools will become operational in the city soon. He said that the CDGK will bear all expenses regarding books, uniforms as well as expenses incurred in extra-curricular activities.

He made the announcement during a meeting with Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Federal Secretary Naheed Haider and OPF Director General Najeeb Khilji at his secretariat located at the Civic Centre. DCO Karachi Muhammad Javed Hanif Khan and CDGK EDO Education Ibrahim Kambhar were also present at the occasion. Kamal reiterated that the CDGK is fully determined in providing quality education to children belonging to low income socio-economic backgrounds. He said that the CDGK along with the association of OPF has decided to open doors to better educational facilities in city. The CDGK and the OPF are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding so that the OPF can take charge of a public model school located at the Nishtar Road. Haider told Kamal that the OPF has plans to establish three public model schools in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar for which it will need CDGK’s cooperation.
