Karachi Target Killings

Violence in Karachi is not a new story specially for the citizens of Karachi. But the way these events of target killings have occurred in the city are really a big threat for the social, political religious parties as well as the Karachites.
As always all the responsibilities are directed towards the government and the stack holder MQM. But one thing which should be notices that at the end of the day who gets the fruit. Its the forces who are either rejected by the citizens in elections or the forces who have regrets of not participating in 2008 General elections which were considered as a well conducted free and fair elections (as per the reports of international independent Media).
Last year target killings according to the Political affiliations were.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement 69

Local Bodies Elections Karachi

Local bodies elections are soon to be held, but some delay as the political forces PPP and MQM are still yet to agree on some issues. As the president Zardari have given the authority of upcoming elections to respective provinces, it is now the duty of provincial governments to conduct a free, fair and people friend elections.
In Karachi more than 80% chances are of MQM to clean sweep the elections once again as they have not only done it before, but they also are the only favorites of the people of Karachi.
ANP though trying to grab some of the pakhtoon populated areas of Karachi in upcoming elections but they also had to face a big resist as thousands of pushtuns are going to vote for JUI & MQM.
Jamat e Islami have already lost its reputation in the eyes of Karachites, so there is a minimum chance of them to get even a single seat from Karachi.

KESC rates increased (another blow to karachites)

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) have approved the current increment in the tariff of Karachi Electric supply corporation. The increment of 1.1 Rs has raised the tariff from 0.6 to 1.70 which is indeed a huge burden for the citizens of 70% revenue generator. The political representatives of KArachi have recorded their protest against the current increment in Sindh assembly as well as National assembly and senate too.
Though the rates are not expected to be lowed down, or taken back, but such discrimination with the citizens of Karachi is not new, soon a day will come when Karachites will start to react back for such discrimination with them.

According to the latest news, at 5 PM, the PHET was just 60 KM away from the Karachi coast, but at the very last moment, the direction suddenly changed and the cyclone was self diverted to Badin, Thatha and Ketty bandar.

Karachi ready to face a big hurricane

A hurricane which was been created in Arabian Sea is about to hit Karachi in next 48 hours.
The weather forecasting is not very pleasant for the citizens of KArachi. Social workers and political activists of MQM are on Road and are trying to make things better and more firm to face a hurricane. The Hurricane is now at the coast of Oman and according to the latest news the intensity has been decreased as the Hurricane is no more of Category 3, it is now of Category 2.
People of Karachi will miss the former Mayor Mustafa Kamal who always was ready to face such situations, as the new administration of the City is not that much active as it should be.
But it would be a big challenge for Karachites to face such hurricane after a long period of time.

“Well Wishers Of Peace In Karachi”

Indeed I am a well-wisher of Karachi, and why shouldn’t I be, after all its my city, my birth place, and above all, everything I have, belong to this great city, I am amongst those millions of people whose day to day life is directly impacted and influenced by the law and order situation in the city. The Small business I own and operate practically shuts down whenever violence erupt in the city. The factories where I buy the goods to supply in the city markets become totally unreachable whenever a there tension in the City. Well not whole city but mainly the entry and exit points of certain localities become the target of these gangster armed men and its ironic that the Police become a silent spectator so one can’t enter or leave the area if trapped in between, And if you try to do so you have to lose everything, your dignity and sometimes your life too.

Unfortunately this is what repeats itself after every few months in the name of TARGET KILLINGS. But today I received a “LETTER “ in a very FRIENDLY tone. I was entering inside a factory I visits regularly, the gate keeper stopped me and a man of heavy build and big mustache standing near him side just outside the factory gates handed me a pamphlet, being in hurry I dint pay much attention and just folded it and put it in my front pocket along with other papers, so that i may read it later if I get some time. Once inside the factory and after the usual hello hi with the loading guys I moved towards the room of Supply Manager, once I got seated I took out the list of goods to be purchased and handed It to the Supply manager, It was Just then I noticed the pamphlet and paid attention to it, “Ehleyan-e-Karachi or Bil Khasoos Urdu Bolney Waley Mutawaja Houn”

“Oh So You also got this” The middle aged Supply Manager asked. “What is this? Someone just outside the factory gate gave this to me”

“Read it yourself! It is a clear threat of what they had been planning since long”

“Oh threat ? Why don’t you complain to authorities about them threatening you”

“No No, It is not a threat just for me, read it it’s a threat to everyone”

And I started reading…..
“What The Hell is this! now they are openly threatening us to stop working in our own city”

“This is not YOUR city ! Karachi is for everyone, You are supposed to pay all the taxes, bills and take care of your city but others coming from anywhere have the right to use it! they can brake waters supply lines, as water is a basic necessity and you can’t deny anyone a basic necessity! they can take illegal electric kunda connections, because the main line is passing from their areas, in-fact Karachi Electric Supply Company has to pay them ransom tax for passing Lines from their areas, they can grab any piece of land because they needed it and the Land belongs to GOD!! Well can Supreme Court move oil tankers from Clifton? Police can arrest anyone for Pillion Ridding but can they arrest Bus drivers for making passengers travel on bus roofs? Open your eyes Mister Karachi is for everyone, hahahaha“

“You are right but if it is for everyone, than everyone should take equal responsibility, should pay their tax and abide law as a good citizen.”

“huh, People who even don’t like to get buried here will share the responsibility!!! Your expectations.”

I left the place, extremely worried about the future and peace of city. After reaching a safe area I called a friend who is in Police Department, to let him know & discuss the volcanic condition I felt had reached our door steps.
He invited me to his office and during our conversation I asked him what the intelligence network of our agencies is doing, in response he shared with me a file containing Secret Informative Letters of Police Department which were enough for opening anyone’s eyes, despite having information in advance, our law enforcing agencies remain unable to stop this “Target Killing” which in result is damaging our peace, our dignity and our reputation in the country and around the world. “What we lack is the will to defeat these terrorist”, was his ultimate reply.
